Climate change impacts on freshwater toxins, and its health effects
ScopusResearch Type: Research article | Domain: Environmental pollution and remediation
Publish Type: Published
Publish Date: 2025-04-01
The influence of the global warming resulting from climate change (CC) together with the presence of freshwater toxins has led to many risks for different water uses and human health. The present chapter discussed the potential risks associated with the effect of global warming on the diffusion of f...
Helix pomatia mucin alleviates DSS-induced colitis in mice: Unraveling the cross talk between microbiota and intestinal chemokine
ScopusResearch Type: Research article | Domain: Environmental pollution and remediation
Publish Type: Published
Publish Date: 2024-09-01
Gut microbiota imbalance and alterations in the chemokine-chemokine receptor interactions are pivotal in the initiation and advancement of ulcerative colitis (UC). The current UC treatments are prolonged, exhibit high recurrence rates, and may lead to colorectal cancer. So, this study explores the e...
Residues of pyrethroids and triazoles pesticides in water and sediment of certain Egyptian watercourses: assessing their influence on fungal diversity
ScopusResearch Type: Research article | Domain: Environmental pollution and remediation
Publish Type: Published
Publish Date: 2023-09-29
Contamination of water and sediment with pyrethroids and triazoles residues can affect fungal diversity, and hence the aquatic system functioning. The aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of water and sediment contamination with pyrethroids and triazoles on fungal diversity. Water a...
Cornu aspersum mucin attenuates indomethacins-induced gastric ulcers in mice via alleviating oxidative stress and inflammation
ScopusResearch Type: Research article | Domain: Environmental pollution and remediation
Publish Type: Published
Publish Date: 2023-05-01
In the past three decades, a significant progress has been made in the prevention and treatment of gastric ulcers. The incidence of the disease has decreased, but gastric ulcer is still a medical problem. Currently, the available drugs for gastric ulcer treatment have many side effects; therefore, s...
Biological Activity and GC-MS/MS Analysis of Extracts of Endophytic Fungi Isolated from Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms
ScopusResearch Type: Research article | Domain: Environmental pollution and remediation
Publish Type: Published
Publish Date: 2023-03-09
Introduction: Endophytic fungi are good sources of bioactive compounds that are exclusive to their hosts. Eichhornia crassipes plant produces different bioactive compounds. The aim of the present study is to isolate and identify endophytic fungi that reside in Eichhornia crassipes tissues, and to ev...
Molluscicidal, histopathological and genotoxic effects of Scenedesmus obliquus and Spirulina platensis extracts and their biosynthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles on Biomphalaria alexandrina
ScopusResearch Type: Research article | Domain: Environmental pollution and remediation
Publish Type: Published
Publish Date: 2022-04-24
Searching for molluscicidal agents of biological origin is mandatory to avoid the drawbacks of using chemical molluscicides. Algae are good candidates as sources of compounds with molluscicidal properties, especially if they are combined with modern techniques such as nanotechnology. This study aime...
Metallothionein expression in Aspergillus exposed to environmentally relevant concentrations of heavy metals at different pH levels
ScopusResearch Type: Research article | Domain: Environmental pollution and remediation
Publish Type: Published
Publish Date: 2021-05-04
Heavy metal pollution represents a health threat. Many fungal species are capable of tolerating various heavy metals, especially if they are isolated from a contaminated watercourse. One of the mechanisms by which fungi can sequester certain heavy metals is synthesizing stress proteins. The aim of t...
Effect of methyl gallate on immune response of Biomphalaria alexandrina (Ehrenberg, 1831) snails to infection with Schistosoma mansoni (Sambon, 1907)
ScopusResearch Type: Research article | Domain: Environmental pollution and remediation
Publish Type: Published
Publish Date: 2021-01-06
Schistosomiasis still affects a lot of people in many developing countries. Reducing the disease dissemination has been the target of various studies. As methyl gallate has antioxidant properties, it is assumed that it can be a good candidate for stimulating the immune response of snails. So, the ai...
Pollution by organochlorine and organophosphorus pesticides residues in watercourses of some Egyptian governorates with reference to the distribution of macroinvertebrates
ScopusResearch Type: Research article | Domain: Environmental pollution and remediation

Organization: w
Publish Date: 2020-08-12
The paper reports an assessment of the quality of some water courses located in three Egyptian governorates by investiga tion of organochlorine and organophosphorus pesticides residues, and the distribution of macroinvertebrates. Water and sediment samples were collected from the investigated...
Reprotoxicity of 4-nonylphenol to Biomphalaria alexandrina snails at certain temperatures
ScopusResearch Type: Research article | Domain: Environmental pollution and remediation
Publish Type: Published
Publish Date: 2019-05-02
One of the most common compounds in pesticide formulations, plastics, and papers is 4-nonylphenol (4-NP). It is contained in agricultural, industrial, and wastewater effluents, which when discharged into surface waters affect aquatic fauna. Therefore, the present study aimed to use Biomphalaria...
