Harvest of Excellence… An Exceptional Evening  Honoring the Scientists and Researchers of Theodor Bilharz Institute 2026

In a scene reflecting deep appreciation for science and pride in achievement, Theodor Bilharz Research Institute concluded the activities of its 2026 Annual Conference with a distinguished honoring ceremony that embodied gratitude for all those who have contributed to supporting the journey of scientific research and achieved remarkable accomplishments at both local and international levels.

Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Institute, Chairman of the Board, and Conference President, honored distinguished scientists and researchers, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to celebrating inspiring role models and recognizing their impactful contributions.

The ceremony began by honoring Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Saleh and Prof. Dr. Mosad Ghareeb on the occasion of their inclusion among the world’s most influential scientists according to Stanford University rankings—an achievement that reflects the institute’s prominent scientific standing on the global stage.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ali Saber and Prof. Dr. Ehab El-Dabaa were also honored in recognition of their scientific excellence and for obtaining a patent, highlighting the institute’s support for innovation and the translation of research into practical applications.

Prof. Dr. Azza Saleh Radwan, Professor of Clinical and Chemical Pathology, was honored for her appointment as Chair of the Advisory Committee for drafting standardized and cultural models at the Supreme Council for the Review of Clinical Medical Research Ethics.

In support of institutional excellence, the Microbiology Department was recognized for achieving first place in periodic proficiency tests conducted by the Supreme Council of Universities, with a 100% score for the fifth consecutive year. The award was received by Prof. Dr. Doaa Gamal , Head of the Department.

The ceremony also included honoring a number of young researchers who obtained Master’s and PhD degrees in 2025, reaffirming the institute’s commitment to supporting the next generation of scientists.

Dr. Mohamed El-Wahsh from the General Surgery Department and Dr. Omar Adly from the Hepatogastroenterology Department were honored for obtaining a Hospital Management Diploma from the American University in Cairo.

Associate Professor Dr. Safia Samir from the Biochemistry Department was recognized for her active role in launching the institute’s new scientific journal, Journal of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute for Medical Sciences. Dr. Sozan Ezz El-Din from the Environmental Research Department was also honored for being selected as an ambassador and certified trainer for sustainable development by the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development under the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.

Certificates of appreciation were also awarded to top-performing researchers in scientific publishing, research indicators, and citation counts for 2025, according to ranking positions, as part of encouraging scientific excellence.

In a humanitarian gesture, Mersal Foundation was honored for its community role in providing Iftar meals to staff during the holy month of Ramadan.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the conference. He extended special gratitude to the honorary presidents of the conference, vice presidents, members of the scientific committee, as well as the organizing and supporting committees. He also specifically acknowledged the Technical Office, Media Office, and General Secretariat for their pivotal roles and continuous efforts in planning, organizing, and preparation, which greatly contributed to the conference’s outstanding success.

The closing ceremony reaffirmed that success is not only achieved through accomplishments, but also through recognizing those who make them possible.
