TBRI Enhances Its Capabilities with the Latest Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Equipment Under a Cooperation Protocol with “Scope Medical”
As part of the comprehensive development plan adopted by Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) to elevate the level of its medical and research services, and under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Institute and Chairman of the Board, the Institute has witnessed a new qualitative leap through the modernization and renewal of Hepatogastroentrology Endoscopy Unit. The unit has been equipped with a set of the world’s most advanced endoscopy devices, within the framework of a joint cooperation protocol with Scope Medical Company.
This achievement reaffirms the Institute’s ongoing commitment to keeping pace with scientific and technological progress in various medical fields and to enhancing the capabilities of its clinical units to serve patients in accordance with the highest standards of quality and precision.
The project was implemented under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ayman Abdel Aziz, Head of hepatoastroenterology Department ; Dr. Sameh Badr, Director of the Endoscopy Unit; and Dr. Afnan Sarhan, Hospital Director, in fruitful collaboration with Scope Medical, headed by Dr. Hisham Hamza, Chairman of the Board, and Dr. Gamal Amer, Protocol Coordinator. The collaboration resulted in the supply of a comprehensive range of state-of-the-art equipment representing the latest technological advancements in the field.
The new equipment includes several control units and light sources, in addition to six gastroscopes, two colonoscopes, two ERCP scopes, and advanced endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) systems that allow for highly accurate diagnosis and efficient biopsy sampling. These advanced systems cover a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy services offered to patients at the Institute.
In an exclusive statement, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Institute, emphasized that this development represents a strategic step in the modernization of the Institute’s medical infrastructure. He added that equipping the Endoscopy Unit with such advanced technology enhances the Institute’s ability to provide faster, more precise, and more efficient services, reducing diagnosis and intervention time — which directly improves the quality of care and patient satisfaction.
He further noted that this achievement is part of an ambitious plan aimed at transforming the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute into a leading regional and international reference center in the fields of gastroenterology and hepatology.
Dr. Abdel Aziz concluded by reaffirming the Institute’s commitment to continuously upgrading and developing its medical and research units and expanding cooperation with leading medical institutions and companies, in order to maintain its distinguished position as a national institution that effectively contributes to strengthening Egypt’s healthcare system — and serves as a model of integration between scientific research and specialized medical care.
