As part of its national mission and leading role in supporting public health and establishing preventative practices within workplaces, Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) launched a comprehensive initiative for the early detection of diabetes and its precursors. This initiative, under the patronage of Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of the Institute and Chairman of the Board, is being implemented by the Quality and Patient Safety Unit under the supervision of Professor Dr. Hanan Ali Sayed. It reflects the Institute's ongoing commitment to disseminating health awareness and raising the level of preventative awareness among its employees and visitors.

This Memorandum of Understanding aims to foster collaboration between both parties in developing a new generation of researchers in the medical and health fields. It seeks to advance scientific progress, while respecting environmental considerations. Theodor Bilharz Research Institute is the largest of its kind in Egypt and the region in the field of scientific research. Both parties possess the necessary training and research resources to achieve this goal and cultivate outstanding young people equipped with specialized knowledge and skills. This collaboration will be based on equality, mutual cooperation, and the exchange of special privileges between the two institutions.

Theodor Bilharz Research Institute and the Research Institute of Ophthalmology Sign a Cooperation Protocol to Enhance Scientific Research and Institutional Integration

In a new international scientific achievement that reinforces the position of Egyptian research on the global map of medical innovation and reflects the advanced international standing of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) and its pioneering role in supporting applied research with global impact, the Institute announced the publication of a high-level scientific study featuring the participation of Professor Dr. Ibrahim Mostafa Ibrahim, Professor of hepatogastroenterology and Endoscopy at TBRI. He is one of the Institute’s distinguished scientists, a recipient of the State Appreciation Award, and holder of the Master title—the highest honor in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy—awarded by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the world’s leading authority in this specialty.

In line with the pioneering role of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute in supporting public health and consolidating prevention concepts within work environments, and under the patronage of Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director and Chairman of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute, the Quality and Patient Safety Unit, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hanan Ali Sayed, organized a scientific and awareness lecture entitled “Diabetes in the Workplace.” This event was held within the framework of the Institute’s plan to disseminate health culture and enhance the level of preventive awareness among employees.

Theodor Bilharz Research Institute and the ICGEB Sign International Agreement in a Partnership Opening New Horizons for Biomedicine in Egypt

As part of the institute’s pioneering role as one of the most prominent research and medical institutions in Egypt and the region, and in line with its continuous commitment to improving the quality of medical education and enhancing surgeons’ skills using the latest global techniques, the General Surgery Department at Theodor Bilharz Research Institute organized a three-day intensive program entitled “Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy Hands-On Bootcamp.”

ICGEB is an intergovernmental organization that aims to provide a global center of excellence in research, training, and technology transfer in genetic engineering and biotechnology, supporting member states in achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Theodor Bilharz Research Institute is a governmental medical research institution affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Arab Republic of Egypt. It aims to support biomedical sciences and produce research outputs that contribute to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of endemic diseases, particularly schistosomiasis and viral hepatitis, in addition to research on gastrointestinal cancers.
