This Memorandum of Understanding aims to foster collaboration between both parties in developing a new generation of researchers in the medical and health fields. It seeks to advance scientific progress, while respecting environmental considerations. Theodor Bilharz Research Institute is the largest of its kind in Egypt and the region in the field of scientific research. Both parties possess the necessary training and research resources to achieve this goal and cultivate outstanding young people equipped with specialized knowledge and skills. This collaboration will be based on equality, mutual cooperation, and the exchange of special privileges between the two institutions.

ICGEB is an intergovernmental organization that aims to provide a global center of excellence in research, training, and technology transfer in genetic engineering and biotechnology, supporting member states in achieving the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Theodor Bilharz Research Institute is a governmental medical research institution affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Arab Republic of Egypt. It aims to support biomedical sciences and produce research outputs that contribute to the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of endemic diseases, particularly schistosomiasis and viral hepatitis, in addition to research on gastrointestinal cancers.

Areas of Cooperation To address common goals in controlling parasitic diseases through joint research efforts at national and regional levels, the following forms of collaboration are proposed: • Development and execution of joint research projects, including sharing research findings and conducting reciprocal visits. • Exchange of researchers to conduct studies, adopt innovative methodologies, present lectures, and collaborate on projects. • Sharing scientific information and publications for educational and research purposes. • Joint organization and participation in academic events, including conferences, seminars, workshops and symposia. • Collaborative use of laboratories and scientific equipment essential for research.

The memorandum of understanding aims to involve Theodor Bilharz Research Institute and Badr University in working to create a new generation of researchers in the medical and health fields who seek scientific progress without compromising environmental elements. Theodor Bilharz Research Institute is the largest of its kind in Egypt and the region in the field of scientific research, and the training and research tools available to both parties to achieve this goal and qualify outstanding young people who are familiar with the objectives of specialized knowledge and skills within a framework of equality, joint cooperation, and the exchange of special privileges between the two parties.

The purpose of this memorandum of understanding is to furtherly promote cooperation and the advancement of academic and research capabilities and educational exchange between Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) (Egypt) and Wuhan University (China), as an extension to the previous MOU launched in 2019.
