The purpose of this memorandum of understanding is to furtherly promote cooperation and the advancement of academic and research capabilities and educational exchange between Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) (Egypt) and Wuhan University (China), as an extension to the previous MOU launched in 2019.

Under the patronage of Prof. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute, Dr. Shaimaa Shaker, a researcher in the Parasitology Department at the Institute, psychotherapist, and positive psychology coach, presents a lecture entitled: "Thriving Under Pressure: Emotional Resilience for the Researcher’s Journey" on Monday, July 21st, 2025 at 10:30 AM Hall B at the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute.

Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) continues its pioneering role in training and qualifying doctors through the Egyptian Fellowship Program — one of the core pillars in developing medical competencies at the institute. Several hospital departments have received accreditation from the Egyptian Fellowship, reflecting the institute’s readiness and ongoing commitment to providing a comprehensive training environment that aligns with national clinical education standards.

In a step that reflects the depth of scientific relations between Egypt and China, and as a continuation of a joint cooperation that has already yielded promising research achievements, Theodor Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) and Wuhan University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at renewing and deepening their academic and research collaboration. The agreement was signed by Prof. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of TBRI, and Prof. Youfeng Yuan, Vice President of Wuhan University, reaffirming both parties’ commitment to expanding cooperation in fields of mutual interest and unifying efforts to confront health challenges, foremost among them the fight against endemic diseases that pose a threat to public health in many developing countries.

Under the patronage of Prof. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Director of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute and Chairman of the Board, the Training Unit at the institute has announced the start of its summer internship program for medical students and fresh graduates. The program is accredited by the American Association for Continuing Education under the credit hours system.
