Theodore Bilharz Research Institute Participates in the Fourth International Cancer Conference “Diagnosis and Treatment” 2026
As part of its commitment to advancing its scientific and research contributions to cancer control and keeping pace with the latest developments in cancer diagnosis and treatment, Theodore Bilharz Research Institute (TBRI) is participating in the fourth edition of the Annual International Cancer Conference “Diagnosis and Treatment,” scheduled to take place on October 27–28, 2026, at Badr University in Cairo. The conference coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, known as Pink October, and supports the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030. It will bring together distinguished scientists, researchers, and specialists from Egypt and around the world.
The Institute’s participation features the active involvement of its leadership and research staff. Prof. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Acting Director of the Institute and Chairman of its Board, will chair conference sessions, reflecting TBRI’s scientific standing and its role in supporting research initiatives in oncology.
In addition, several members of TBRI’s research staff will deliver specialized scientific lectures covering a diverse range of research topics, bringing together recent molecular discoveries, epidemiological studies, clinical nutrition, and surgical expertise in cancer treatment. These contributions highlight the Institute’s scientific and research capabilities and strengthen its presence at specialized scientific forums, as follows:
- Dr. Omnia Ali Mohamed, Researcher at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, will deliver a lecture entitled:
Chromatin Remodeling: A New Frontier in Biomarker Discovery
- Dr. Hend Okasha Ahmed, Assistant Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, will deliver a lecture entitled:
Epidemiological Incidence of Cryptosporidium Infection in Egypt: Molecular Species Identification and qPCR Quantification
- Dr. Mohamed Abdel Halim, Researcher at the Department of General Surgery, will deliver a lecture entitled:
Pancreaticoduodenectomy at TBRI: A Single-Center Experience
- The Institute’s Clinical Nutrition Team, led by Dr. Marwa Abdel Ghany Mohamed, Assistant Researcher at the Department of Public Health, Deputy Supervisor of the Clinical Nutrition Unit, will also participate. The team includes clinical nutrition specialists Dr. Noha Mohamed, Consultant in Immunology; Dr. Dina Eid Bishr, Specialist in Public Health and Epidemiology; and Dr. Menna Hegazy, Specialist in Public Health. They will deliver specialized scientific lectures addressing the role of clinical nutrition in cancer care under the title:
Integrated Clinical Nutrition, Exercise Oncology, and the Deconstruction of Prevailing Nutritional Myths
The conference will address the latest advances in cancer diagnosis and treatment, including oncology pharmacy, applications of green chemistry and nanoparticles, the use of artificial intelligence in diagnosis, molecular diagnostic techniques and liquid biopsy, as well as the role of clinical nutrition and mental health in supporting cancer patients.
The conference aims to raise awareness of the importance of early cancer detection, promote joint research collaboration among scientific and medical institutions at both national and international levels, and facilitate the exchange of expertise in healthcare, biotechnology, and materials science. These efforts are intended to support the development of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches and contribute to improving cancer prevention and control.
This participation reaffirms Theodore Bilharz Research Institute’s commitment to strengthening its presence at international scientific conferences, showcasing its research outputs, and expanding opportunities for academic collaboration and knowledge exchange. These efforts support the advancement of cancer diagnosis and treatment and contribute to broader scientific and medical initiatives to combat cancer.
