Call for Mega Applied Research Projects 
This call aims to support large-scale applied research projects addressing high priority research issues with clear scientific and applied deliverables. It encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and the utilization of research outcomes to develop 
actionable solutions and applications. 
* Project Duration: Maximum of three (3) years. 
* Project Budget: Up to 1,000,000 EGP. 

Proposals submitted must fall within the following research fields: 
* Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic, and Gastrointestinal Diseases 
* Renal and Urological Diseases 
* Metabolic Disorders and Malignancies 
* Emerging Infectious Diseases 
* Recent Trends in Environmental Health 
* Tropical and Parasitic Diseases

The following items should be taken into account in the submitted proposals: 

- The proposal is a research project in one of the above-mentioned fields.

- Projects will be evaluated and selected based on several key criteria, including the originality and clarity of the project idea, the level of innovation it demonstrates, and its potential for practical application. 

- The total budget of the project must not exceed maximum funding limit specified for the respective research call. 

- The budget is to be disbursed in three unequal installments: 
* The first installment: up to a maximum of 60% of the total budget. 
* The second and third installments: 40% of the total budget.

- The Principal Investigator must not have any ongoing research projects at the time of submission.

- A researcher may only submit one research proposal, whether as a Principal Investigator (PI) or a Co-PI.

- A researcher may not be involved in more than three ongoing research projects at the same time.

- Project objectives, work plan, and expected outcomes must align proportionately with the project size and requested budget.

-  For Mega Applied Research Projects, interdisciplinary collaboration across different departments and divisions is strongly encouraged, as appropriate for the nature of the project.

-  An official paper copy of the proposal must be submitted, including approvals from both the Department and Division Councils.

-  Submissions must be completed online via the Institute's website, along with submitting the approved paper copy. 
The closing date for proposal submission is December 30, 2026.
