MOU with El-Galala University
The objectives
- Developing joint training programs for graduate and postgraduate students to take advantage of the common and complementary areas in each institution where trainees will gain interdisciplinary perspectives.
- Initiating collaborative research and graduation projects to enhance the shared skills of faculty and students at both institutions.
-Enhancing research capabilities by sharing facilities, equipment and core expertise that will create additional funding opportunities for joint research projects.
- Cooperating in launching joint training courses and workshops.
- Making equipment available that is not available at Theodor Bilharz Institute, to be used through joint research or as services provided by Galala University to the institute or the institute to the university.
Areas of cooperation in training between the institute and the faculties of Galala University:
* Faculty of Science:
- The Institute provides ten graduation projects annually for the graduation project course in clinical chemistry, molecular biology and nanotechnology for the students of the programs of the Faculty of Science, provided that the faculty determines the projects.
- The institute provides ten internship opportunities annually for students of the Faculty of Science programs, to be determined by the institute in the biological materials unit and molecular diagnostic laboratories at the institute.
- The institute organizes field visits for college students to the medical mollusk research simulation unit of the institute in Qanater Al-Khairiya.
* Faculty of Pharmacy:
- Training the graduates of the clinical pharmacy program (sixty students annually) through visits to different clinical specialties in the institute's hospital, clinics, clinical laboratories, clinical and pharmacy departments.
- Cooperation with the Institute's Centers of Excellence in research projects and joint funding in the fields of scientific research and pharmaceutical development.
* Faculty of Medicine:
- Training college students at the hospital located at the institute in the following departments: General Surgery Department, Urology and Nephrology Department, Anesthesiology Department, Intensive Care Department, Internal Medicine and Hepatology Department, Radiology Department, Endoscopy Unit
- Medical students are allowed to observe cases booked at the institute as part of their practical training, and some internship students can spend part of their practical training at the institute.
Faculty of Nursing:
- Participation of the Faculty of Nursing at the University in raising the level and developing the capabilities of teachers at the Technical Institute of Nursing affiliated to the Institute by organizing specialized training programs determined by the Institute.
- Organizing practical training for nursing students inside the institute's hospital.
- Graduates can be used in the future to teach at the Higher Institute of Nursing within the institute according to the needs.
* Faculty of Physiotherapy:
- Make some departments in the institute's hospital available for training students.
b) Areas of cooperation in research and projects between the Institute and Galala University: -
- Strengthening cooperation between the Institute and the University in conducting joint scientific research between the two institutions and student research projects in various fields.
- Enhancing research capabilities by exchanging the utilization of basic facilities, equipment and expertise, for funding opportunities and joint international projects.
- Promote cooperation between the Centers of Excellence at Galala University and the Institute in joint research funding and scientific research and development in the fields of science and pharmaceutical development in cooperation with the concerned authorities and economic entities.
- Cooperation in organizing joint conferences, seminars and workshops, and participation in supervising the university's scientific theses between the Institute's professors and the university's faculties.
- Full support for Galala University to provide all laboratory equipment for the joint project between the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute and Kanazawa University in Japan.
The duration of the protocol is 5 years from the date of its signing and ends on 26/02/2029, and this protocol may be renewed for a similar period by agreement between the two parties.
Some Important items
· The duration of the training courses for students varies between colleges and is determined later by direct agreement between the Institute and the colleges, provided that the training system and the attendance rates of students during the training period are determined and the capacity of one training group is determined according to the training capacity set for this period by the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute.
· The two parties agreed to provide an opportunity for college students at Galala University to participate in various research projects conducted by the Institute, organize seminars and workshops, invite experts from the Institute's professors in various disciplines to participate in lectures in university programs, facilitate the process of linking college graduates to the labor market through excellent education, and provide employment opportunities for them at the Institute or at companies and institutions cooperating with the Institute.
· The two parties agreed to cooperate in conducting scientific research, exchanging experiences between the two parties, following up the publication of scientific research results in local and international scientific journals, in addition to organizing joint scientific conferences and events, and cooperating in obtaining funding for research projects on both sides.
· The two parties agreed to organize annual specialized programs to develop the level of teachers at the Institute of Nursing, launch awareness campaigns on various health issues facing the Egyptian society, participate in community activities aimed at developing the environment, provide advisory services to the community in the field of pharmacy, and cooperate with non-governmental organizations in the field of community service.
· The two parties agreed to establish a mechanism to follow up the training with the second party according to the requirements of the training program, provided that the two parties are jointly involved in organizing the training through a coordinator from the college who follows up with the training coordinator as well as the evaluation of the trainees from the college students with the commitment of the first party to emphasize the students and follow up their compliance with the rules and regulations governing the field training process for students within the Theodor Belharis Research Institute through an official coordinator from the college with taking the necessary measures with the violators.
· The two parties to the protocol are also committed to maintaining the facilities, facilities and buildings allocated for training at the other party, and each party is responsible for the misuse of equipment and facilities.
