The Biobank Center of Excellence at TBRI hosts a select group of experts to enhance collaboration in the field of biobanks.

In line with the Keenness of Theodor Bilharz Research Institute to enhance its role as a leading scientific center regionally and internationally, and under the patronage of Professor Ahmed Abdel Aziz, the Director of the Institute and Chairman of the Board, the Biobank Center of Excellence at the Institute hosted Professor Henry Silverman, the professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in the United States and the expert in the field of clinical research ethics, along with several representatives from the Arab Biobank Network (ArabBioNet).
 
The meeting came to emphasize the importance of scientific collaboration and the exchange of expertise in the fields of biobanks and clinical research ethics, where attendees discussed ways to enhance research partnerships and develop joint work mechanisms that contribute to the advancement of clinical practices in the Arab region.
 
The meeting included a selection of experts and specialists in this field, among them Prof. Dr. Amani Maher, founder and president of the Arab Network of Biobanks and executive director of the "Biobank MASRI" at Ain Shams University Medical Research Center, and Prof. Dr. Dr. Eman El-Ahwany, Head of  Immunology and Therapeutic Evaluation Division and Deputy Director of the Biobank at the Institute, alongside Prof. Dr. Dr. Nahla Afifi, former director of Qatar Biobank and member of the Arab Network of Biobanks, and Prof. Dr. Doaa Mohamed Said, Dean of the Suez Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Dr. Azza Saleh, Professor of Clinical Chemistry at the institute and the member of the Supreme Council for the Review of Medical Clinical Research Ethics. Also participating from the technical side were Prof. Dr. Hoda Abu Taleb, Director of Bioinformatics at the center, and Dr. Engy Mohsen, the executive director of the center.
 
In this context, Professor Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz stated that this meeting represents an important step toward building an integrated regional cooperation system in the field of biobanks, emphasizing that the institute pays special attention to adopting the best international practices and supporting interdisciplinary research that adds value to the health and research sectors in Egypt and the Arab world.
 
The meeting concluded with all participants emphasizing the importance of continuing these scientific meetings and expanding the horizons of cooperation between Arab and international research centers, thereby solidifying the position of the Biorepository Center of Excellence at the Theodor Bilharz Research Institute as a pivotal platform for research and clinical collaboration in the region.
