Nano-Biotechnology Unit

It is a multi-disciplinary research unit designed with the objective to promote and support the development of new systems for diagnostics and disease treatment through the research in one of the most promising fields within the new technological advances in Biomedical science.

Nanobiotechnology focuses on all aspects of basic research and emerging technologies to include fundamental theories and concepts applied to biomedical-related devices and methods developed by the other two areas.

Nanodiagnostics focus on improving the precision, simplicity, and specificity of diagnostic procedures by means of biosensors.

Nanotherapeutics focus on the development of nanodevices for smart-delivery and specific localization of chemotherapeutic agents to increase therapeutic efficacy.

Our vision is to become a premiere unit that promote and support the development of new systems for diagnostics and disease treatment through the research in one of the most promising fields within the new technological advances in nanotechnology and life science.

The NanoBiotechnology unit at Theodor Bilharz Research Institute focuses on the synthesis and biomedical applications of a wide range of nanomaterials intended for therapeutics and diagnostics.

We strive to solve some of the long standing and fundamentally important health problems in Egypt using cutting edge tools. The goal is to develop sustainable solutions and to train junior scientists to become future experts in the field of NanoBiotechnology. This will be achieved through the contribution of experienced researchers within the unit, our strong collaborations with national and international partners, and through established partnerships with industry experts.
